finding this excellent site I decided to visit my family(MacKay)in
Leverburgh for the first time in 7 years.My wee boy Connor
and I came up earlier this year to spent time with my father
Norman.It was lovely to see everyone again,we were made to
feel so welcome.The place is still as beautiful as I remember.I

1816 and married Mary Fraser also born 1816 - migrated to

really enjoyed your site- although the only times I see Leverburgh
is across the Sound of Harris from Berneray, North Uist when
Imtaking photographs - and its very far away .I'll take binoculars
next time because there seems to be a lot going on . I took
the photograph of the Sound of Harris- in the Clachan and

and foremost, one of the best sites I have seen for a long
time. It has been thirty years since I visited the island,
I was only a wee boy at the time, the sea,sand and the sunburn!
still stick in my mind to this very day. The reason we came
was to look for relatives for the late Norman MacKenzie who
was my grandfather I also remember a Morag MacKenzie ? who
i think was a teacher at the school It is my intention to
go back this year. I would also like to ask if the B B;S can
accomadate two adults and four children

visited Harris about 14-15 years ago for about 5 days in the
last week of June. Given its vast variety and contrasts, it
is the most beautiful place I have ever visited. I would love
to return and plan to some day.
